Russia gives powers to FSB to prosecute ‘thought crime’

The Russian security service has been given extended powers to act against people for so-called “thought crime” under a new law which opponents say marks a return to Soviet-era policing.

The bill, criticised by rights groups, would allow the Federal Security Service (FSB) to issue official warnings to individuals whose actions are deemed to be creating the conditions for crime.

Rights groups say the bill would essentially put the special service above the law and harks back to Soviet times when the much-feared FSB predecessor KGB used warnings to persecute dissidents.

Tulane researchers indicate COREXIT now in blue crab larvae from Florida to Texas; Bio-accumulation fears

Intel Hub

Blue Crab Sample

A  report today from Fox 8 in New Orleans reveals that the “orange blobs found lodged in the bodies of tiny blue crab larvae collected from marshes that stretch from Texas to Florida” appear to contain Corexit, according to preliminary results from researchers at Tulane University.

The report says BP’s dispersant “may do more harm than the oil itself.”

University of New Orleans’ Martin O’Connell, Ph.D said, “No one really knows” if Corexit will bio-accumulate. “If you’re a small fish and you eat 1,000 of these small crab larvae and all of them have oil or Corexit droplets in them they could get into the fish — that little fish could be eaten and so on and so on.”

Pondering the future of the Gulf, O’Connell said, “I think they should be more concerned that we might be losing whole cohorts of these animals when they’re very small, and we won’t see the impact in the adults but three or four years from now.”

Mossad assassins paid by US firms

Implicated in the assassination, Israeli citizen Uri Brodsky (C) covers his face as he is escorted into court in Warsaw, Poland.

US investigators say American companies paid money to the suspects behind the Israeli-masterminded assassination of a senior Hamas official.

American cyberspace companies have been named among the firms that transferred money to the alleged hitmen behind the targeted killing of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh — the co-founder of the Hamas resistance movement’s armed wing, known as the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades – on January 20 The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.

CCTV camera footage, caught in a Dubai hotel, where the operation took place, has led the emirate’s police to put the names of more than two dozen suspects on the international wanted list.

The Dubai police have identified 13 US-issued debit-card accounts used by the suspects into which money was deposited.

Police say evidence confirms the involvement of the Israeli spy agency, Mossad, in the operation.

Earlier in the year, The Sunday Times reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “gave his authorization” for the assassination.

The discovery that the death squad used British, Irish, French, German and Australian passports caused a political predicament for Tel Aviv which ended in the expulsion of its diplomats by Dublin and Canberra.

Poland recently denied Israel’s request to extradite an Israeli man, named Uri Brodsky, who has been accused of providing the assassins with the only German passport used in the murder.

Dangerous Conspiracy Theories

By:  Peter Chamberlin

The Eye of Conspirators

How could a bunch of “lone wolf” researchers be considered dangerous to the United States?  The official explanation given is that we confuse those who hear or read what we have to say, undermining the national unity and trust in government which is necessary to wage war.  That is as good an excuse as any to explain why the American people have not rallied around this war of terror.  The national unity that politicians whine about was achieved only once in the beginning of this war, before the politicians and the corporations revealed the war for what it has always been–a war to control oil and gas.

The great danger posed by conspiracy theorists is that we will finally wake the people up to the fact that we have been deceived, in order trick us into allowing the armed forces of the United States to be used as a mercenary force, an army of conquest, to be used to rob the people of Asia of their God-given natural resources.  The danger of the “conspiracy theorist” is that he will awaken the people from their trance-like slumber which binds them,  trapped somewhere between the waking world and the dream state.   In this state, most of us meekly “support the troops” as they mercilously clear the ground of resisters to the great conspiracy.  The danger is that we will shock them and turn their thoughts toward  this ugly reality of the waking world.

WikiLeaks Posts Mysterious ‘Insurance’ File

By Kim Zetter

In the wake of strong U.S. government statements condemning WikiLeaks’ recent publishing of 77,000 Afghan War documents, the secret-spilling site has posted a mysterious encrypted file labeled “insurance.”

The huge file, posted on the Afghan War page at the WikiLeaks site, is 1.4 GB and is encrypted with AES256. The file’s size dwarfs the size of all the other files on the page combined. The file has also been posted on a torrent download site.

WikiLeaks, on Sunday, posted several files containing the 77,000 Afghan war documents in a single “dump” file and in several other files containing versions of the documents in various searchable formats.

Cryptome, a separate secret-spilling site, has speculated that the new file added days later may have been posted as insurance in case something happens to the WikiLeaks website or to the organization’s founder, Julian Assange. In either scenario, WikiLeaks volunteers, under a prearranged agreement with Assange, could send out a password or passphrase to allow anyone who has downloaded the file to open it.

It’s not known what the file contains but it could include the balance of data that U.S. Army intelligence analyst Bradley Manning claimed to have leaked to Assange before he was arrested in May.

Activists warned that speaking to media could lead to jail

OPP seeks to silence alleged G20 protest ringleaders
Activists warned that speaking to media could lead to jail

The OPP have warned two alleged G20 protest ringleaders that their recent media interviews are a violation of bail conditions not to organize, participate or advise protests. On the morning of July 28, OPP officers called their sureties and threatened to re-jail them if they persist in speaking to the media.  Leah Henderson and Alex Hundert were released on bail on Monday July 19, three weeks after they were arrested at gunpoint in a pre-emptive nighttime raid on their Toronto home.

“There could hardly be a clearer indication that the police are trying to silence the voices of these organizers at all costs.  Alex and Leah refuse to be intimidated from speaking out about their experiences and the daily injustices perpetrated against our society’s most marginalized communities,” says Faraz Shahidi, their supporter and member of the Ontario Public Interest Research Group (OPIRG – Toronto).

Leah and Alex recently appeared on CBC radio, Toronto Sun, Vancouver Media Co-op,  and Rabble decrying the politically-motivated nature of the charges against them and calling on all people to support Indigenous communities, poor people, precarious migrants, and communities under occupation in the face of attacks by the leaders and policies of the G20 on their lands, livelihood, and health.

“Freely expressing opinions is not illegal. These violations of the right to free speech and the freedom of the press to speak to G20 defendants have a grave impact on all of us,” said Ryan White, a lawyer with the Movement Defense Committee.

As casualties in Afghanistan rise, Army suicides, drug use set new records

By Bill Van Auken

As US military fatalities in Afghanistan hit a new high in July, the US Army issued a report exposing record suicides, drug use and other signs of deep demoralization among its ranks after a decade of colonial-style wars.

Another six US troops were killed in a series of four separate attacks across southern Afghanistan on Thursday and Friday, bringing the total death toll for the month to at least 66. This follows the previous high set last month of 60. Both were at least double the average number of fatalities for the first five months of this year.

But even as the casualties in Afghanistan soar, the number of suicides and other violent non-combat deaths among US Army soldiers is rising even more steeply.

The Army’s 350-page report issued Thursday, titled “Health Promotion, Risk Reduction and Suicide Prevention,” placed the suicides in a broader context of dangerous behavior among soldiers, including rampant drug use, drunk driving and violent crime.

The report was commissioned after the rate of suicides among active duty Army personnel rose higher than that of the general population in 2008. While the civilian rate was 19.2 per 100,000 people that year, it was 20.2 per 100,000 for Army personnel. Traditionally, the suicide rate in the Army has been considerably lower than that in the general population, and the current rate is more than triple that which existed in the Army prior to 2001.

In the last fiscal year, the Army recorded 239 suicides among both active duty soldiers and reservists. Out of these, 160 were active duty soldiers. Meanwhile, another 146 active duty deaths were attributed to what the report calls “high risk behavior”. More than half of these deaths—74—were caused by drug overdoses. The report notes that the number of accidental deaths among soldiers has also tripled since 2001.

Together, suicides and so-called “high risk behavior” killed more soldiers during the year than combat in Afghanistan and Iraq.

During the same period, according to the report, there were 1,713 suicide attempts by Army soldiers.

The report does not deal with the suicide rate among veterans, which is considerably worse than those still in the Army. A 2007 study estimated the suicide rate among male veterans aged 20 to 24 at four times the national average—more than 40 per 100,000 per year.

The report is remarkably frank about the horrendous impact of the Army’s involvement for nearly nine years in the US colonial-style wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

In assessing the rising suicide, drug abuse and crime figures, it refers to the “effects of working under an unprecedented operational tempo for almost a decade.”

“We now must face the unintended consequences of leading an expeditionary Army that included involuntary enlistment extensions, accelerated promotions, extended deployment rotations, reduced dwell time and potentially diverted focus from leading and caring for soldiers” who, the reports states, “have been pushed to their breaking point.”

The report states that ideally soldiers should receive 36 months of “dwell time” —stationed at their home base in the US—for every year of deployment to a combat zone. It acknowledges, however, that the escalating war in Afghanistan and the continued occupation of Iraq make such a rotation schedule impossible in the foreseeable future. Currently, soldiers receive less than two years at home for every year sent to war.

Police filmed dragging women and babies during protest

By Thair Shaikh, CNN

London, England (CNN) — A video has emerged showing French police evicting African immigrants with babies and children during a housing protest in a Paris suburb.

Police arrived in the north-east Parisian suburb of La Courneuve last Wednesday and asked a group of about 60 mostly women and children to move, said Michael Hajdenberg, a journalist with the French media organization Mediapart.

The group had been living in the street since being evicted from their council homes on July 8 to make way for a new housing project, he said.

When the group failed to respond to the request, Hajdenberg said police officers forcibly removed them.

Authorities had offered to accommodate them for a short period in hotels, but Hajdenberg said the immigrants wanted more of a long-term guarantee of places to live.

The video shows police dragging away women with babies and young children. In one scene a woman with a baby wrapped to her back is dragged along the pavement while screaming and shouting.

Obama to Make $85 Million from Gulf Disaster. Obama: Just Another (B)anking (P)irate!

“Goldman Sachs wasn’t alone either in its astute “foreknowledge” of the collapse of BP’s stock value due to the Gulf disaster as BP’s own chief executive, Tony Hayward, sold about one-third of his shares weeks before this catastrophe began unfolding too.

But according to this FSB report the largest seller of BP stock in the weeks before this disaster occurred was the American investment company known as Vanguard who through two of their financial arms (Vanguard Windsor II Investor and Vanguard Windsor Investor) unloaded over 1.5 million shares of BP stock saving their investors hundreds of millions of dollars, chief among them President Obama.

For though little known by the American people, their President Obama holds all of his wealth in just two Vanguard funds, Vanguard 500 Index Fund where he has 3 accounts and the Vanguard FTSE Social Index Fund where he holds another 3 accounts, all six of which the FSB estimates will earn Obama nearly $8.5 million a year and which over 10 years will equal the staggering sum of $85 million.

Definition of Austerity – Severe and rigid economy: wartime austerity. The War is on Us Folks. Time to Fight Back!

By Neil Foster

Don’t you just love ‘austerity measures’? You better do because they’re set to get worse according to today’s Irish Independent who report that we’re not poor enough yet so more and more taxes will have to be stolen from the people to pay the bankers.

http://www.independent.ie/opinion/columnists/brendan-keenan/brendan-keenan-pressure-grows-for-a-tougher-budget-2279882.html

They don’t say that in so many words but the sentiment is the same; screw the public at all costs because if we don’t they might get the wrong idea and think things are improving and that their illustrious leaders are doing a fine job which they are of course but not for us. Their banker New World Order paymasters will think they’re doing a great job for them as they continue to rape us all of every semblance of wealth we ever managed to scrape together for ourselves and our families.

The politicians of course will continue to live the high life as the sheeple simply comply and utterly capitulate to these scumbags we put in positions of power and whom we allow to abuse us at every turn.

Why do we put up with it? Did we cause the banks to collapse? Do we deserve this abuse? NO!

What will it take before people decide that they’ve had enough?

Perhaps empty supermarket shelves might just do the trick but sadly people are more likely to start complaining if their TV is switched off or they can’t get down to the bookies to bet on a multimillionaire’s horse rather than complaining about the real issues such as basic survival.

What are you going to do if you go to do your weekly shop at Tescos only to find it closed? What are you going to do when the petrol shuts its doors?

This is coming folks so you better start getting angry and pointing the blame for your troubles squarely at the people responsible, namely the bankers but we can’t get to illumined ones so we have to go for the politicians who are doing their bidding.

They are clearly not working for us when their sole aim seems to be to impoverish the nation and everyone in it by giving every Euro of our wealth to the bankers who will live even higher on the hog with our compliant servitude to their system.

We are rapidly becoming, if we’re not already there, total SLAVES to these parasites. We need to start fighting back in whatever way we can legally and without violence.

Israel violates Lebanon’s airspace

Israeli spy planes violate Lebanon’s airspace.
The Lebanese army has announced that Israeli reconnaissance aircraft have violated Lebanon’s airspace for the third time in a week.

The planes flew over towns in southern and western Lebanon on Friday.

The event was the latest in a series of violations occurring within the period of one week. Israeli military planes had also flown over Lebanese airspace on Sunday and Thursday.

The recent incidents stand in clear violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended Israel’s 33-day war against Lebanon in 2006.

The resolution obliges Israel to refrain from entering Lebanon’s sovereign territory.

Tension between Lebanon and Israel has increased in recent months as Beirut arrested several people on suspicion of spying for Tel Aviv.

Dozens of people, including members of Lebanon’s telecommunications personnel, were arrested since last year on suspicion of collaborating with the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad.

GORDON DUFF: WIKI-LEAKS IS ISRAEL, LIKE WE ALL DIDN’T KNOW

A different view of Wiki-Leaks…

LAME “LEAK” SITE NOTHING MORE THAN THIN COVER FOR “THE TEL AVIV TANGO”

By Gordon Duff STAFF WRITER/Senior Editor

Now “Wiki-Leaks” is busy selling phony bin Laden stories, having the long dead Osama humiliating the CIA by running around villages in Afghanistan selling vacuum cleaners.  What is our “leak” site really about?  This is a dead news cycle.  The World Cup is over, lots of people on holiday and no major stories.  Only in a dead news period like this, as Oliver Stone pointed out, could the Israeli controlled media dump a pile of lame rumors mixed in with box loads of chickenfeed, passing it off as the story of the century.

Even the cover story, the mysterious Assange fleeing the murderous CIA, working to save the world is lame.  WikiLeaks is lame.  Please, everyone, go to the site and read everything there.  I have seen more confidential information on a weather report.  Assange is hardly a James Bond figure.  Woody Allen is masculine in comparison.

Journalists all get leaks, and frankly, we don’t print most of them.  Some we can’t trust.  Some are just too dangerous.  Some are simply illegal.  Some are blatantly self serving Israeli propaganda coated with a veneer of anti-Americanism.  This is “Wiki-leaks” material.  What is important is what they don’t print.  The only things that come out about Israel, the country most vulnerable to leaks, the country always up to the most skulduggery, is an occasional harmless story like their major leak on East Jerusalem settlements.  It hit the New York Times first.

When you read Mr. Assange’s output, you are looking at one of the Mossad games, nothing more.  They send some stories to Fox News, some to CNN, some to the Washington Post or London Times.  They have their pick as their friends and co-workers own those outlets and so many more.  The game today is using Wikileaks, given its 15 minutes of fame for trashing the US in Iraq with the helicopter video, to spread imaginary stories about Pakistan, the only nuclear power in the Middle East capable of standing up to Israel and the enemy of India.

India is what it is all really about.  Israel is playing India for a fall, drawing them into their games they way they did with the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan.  India will wake up with their government bought off, blackmailed, up to their neck in wars and insurgencies at home and fighting Israel’s enemies abroad.  India is the next real target for rape, destruction, destabilization by Israel and our “Wiki-leak” is part of that game.

Another chosen victim, of course, is the United States, hated enemy of Israel, not for public consumption, however.  Check the names of those who looted the American economy.  In the top dresser drawer of 80% of those who took the US into bankruptcy, you will find an Israeli passport.

Did anyone ask why nothing was reported in 90,000 pages regarding the massive drug dealing in Afghanistan?  With stories in the press around the world reporting that President Karzai and his brother are the biggest druglords in the world, why would this not be mentioned?  Is it because Karzai is a good friend of the Indo-Israeli alliance that runs Wiki-leaks?
