1. How is the Euro system going to survive when its members skirt default and can’t adjust their economies because the currency they use is not under their control?

2. What happens if the slowdown in the US (China’s biggest customer) starts taking down China’s economy?

3. How is the world economy going to deal with the shortage of US dollars?

The third question might seem the most outlandish, but if you take away current currency prices (as of 9/27/2010) and some (but not all) commodity markets there is already CLEARLY a shortage of US dollars.

Want proof?

Try to trade real estate for dollars in the US especially California. Florida and Nevada. Try to get yield from US Treasuries. In these massive markets, the dollar is quite scarce (and valuable) in comparison indeed.

How much of the boom in certain commodity prices like gold the result of hedge funds seeking short term momentum returns on easy terms money – and what happens when that game is over?

Think long and hard about the US dollar. It may be look shabby in the short term and hopeless in the long term, but if the Euro Zone, China and commodity prices hit the wall, who’s going to be the fairest of them all.

Sometimes the winner is the investment that stinks the least.

Professor Ralph Keeling of Scripps Institute is worried. In fact, he’s very worried.

According to the data Keeling has meticulously collected since 1989 the world is running out of breathable air—and the rate that it’s losing oxygen is now on the verge of accelerating.

Monitoring oxygen levels around the world is Keeling’s job. He’s very good at his job. And the data confirms that Earth’s oxygen supply is dwindling.

Less oxygen equals less life

A long time ago, the Earth was very rich in oxygen. The air contained such an abundance of the element—close to one-third of the atmosphere was oxygen—that animals and insects grew to gargantuan sizes. For instance, the ancestors of dragonflies once had four foot wingspans.

But now, due to overpopulation by humans, animals—even insect colonies—and deforestation, the oxygen in the air is become a diminishing resource.

Pollution has had a significant impact and events like the BP Deepwater Horizon Gulf disaster pumping up to a million times more methane into the ocean water serves only to speed up the already accelerating process.

Concerned scientists watching potential eruptions of super volcanoes—like the ones at Yellowstone or the Canary Islands—have already calculated the oxygen levels that would be displaced in our atmosphere should any of them erupt.

And the calculations’ sums are enough to cause those in the know chronically sleepless nights.

The numbers have been crunched and the stark results stare researchers in the face: climate change is the least of our problems.

As heliophysicists have been pointing out, much of the global climate change has been driven by significant changes in the sun. A decade ago many astronomers took notice of the sun acting in ways never quite seen in history.

Now the sun is expected to reach solar maximum during the next several years and some scientists are making dire predictions about the havoc that solar flares may cause with our high tech civilization.

Most, however, overlook the connection between solar activity and volcanic eruptions: massive solar activity can lead to massive volcanic eruptions releasing trillions of cubic feet of methane, sulfur, CO2 and other gases that tend to displace free oxygen in the atmosphere.

A simple bleak equation distills the sum of their fears: less oxygen equals less life.

Protesters across Europe have taken action against austerity measures imposed by governments struggling to overcome recession.

Hundreds of people attended trade union rallies against public spending cuts in Belfast and Derry.

In Belfast, Irish Congress of Trade Unions assistant general secretary Peter Bunting told the crowds the burden of the crisis should not be loaded on the poor and denounced bankers he blamed for the crisis.

Picketers hurled eggs at buses and blocked trucks from delivering produce to markets as Spanish workers went on a general strike. Striking workers staged a sit-in outside a garage housing buses in the capital Madrid, screaming “scabs” at drivers trying to get out on to the road in the country’s first general strike since 2002.

Meanwhile in Belgium, around 100,000 workers were preparing to march on European Union institutions in Brussels.

The march could be one of the biggest in the capital for years and will coincide with the European Commission making proposals to punish member states that have run up deficits, often by funding social and employment programmes. The unions fear workers will become the biggest victims of a crisis set off by bankers and traders, many of whom had to be rescued by massive government intervention.

In Greece, which had to be rescued by the euro-nations this spring to stave off bankruptcy, bus and trolley drivers walked off the job for several hours while Athens’ metro system and tram were to shut down at noon.

In Portugal workers marched through the streets in Lisbon and Porto to protest at spending cuts against the minority government was holding a Cabinet meeting after which it was widely expected to announce further cuts and possibly tax rises.

Thousands of Polish workers staged protests against government plans to freeze wages and raise some taxes. The workers from around Poland blew horns and whistles during a protest in heavy rain in Warsaw and demanded the government guarantee their job security and scrap plans to raise the VAT and tax on alcohol and cigarettes.

Some 400 protesters rallied in an illegal demonstration in Vilnius to demand authorities in Lithuania drop harsh austerity measures. In Slovenia, thousands of public service workers continued their open-ended strike to protest at the government’s plan to freeze their salaries for two years.

We have often heard about secret agencies like M15 involved in covert operations.

What do we mean by Covert/Overt? Here are some definitions:-

Overt

Open and observable; not hidden, concealed, or secret.

Covert

Not openly practiced, avowed, engaged in, accumulated, or shown: covert military operations; covert funding for the rebels.

Covered or covered over; sheltered.

Now we would be very naive to assume that the governments of the world do not get involved in covert operations. I’m sure if Winston Churchill did not do this during World War II, we would all be speaking German!! So we can understand that covert operations can benefit a country during times of war, this being one example. The same applies when government troops are overtly sent into a country to keep the peace with warring factions.

Unfortunately in every barrel you get a bad apple and this applies to every area of our society. So why should governments be any different?? How many times have we heard of scandals involving politicians who used their position to manipulate people into doing something or have been found guilty abusing their position of power for personal gain.

But Lord Melchett, former director of Greenpeace and current policy director at the Soil Association, says that, despite what the biotechnology giants would have you believe, most nations of the world are rejecting GMs and thus preventing their takeover of the planet.

“[M]any people in Europe may be unaware of the extent of the resistance to GM in places like India and China, because they swallow the GM industry line that it is supported all across the world,” he was cited as saying in The Independent. “I have to say that where we are now with GM leaves me feeling very optimistic.”

A quick visit to the website of GM-giant Monsanto, for instance, indicates that what Melchett says is true. Fancy, deceptive marketing and design tactics would have you believe that the world is lovingly embracing the alleged wonders of GM crops, but this is hardly the case. In fact, the only reason GMs even have any foothold at all is because, in some countries, they have been deceitfully approved beneath the radar of the general public.

The government is urging pregnant women for the first time to have an NHS seasonal flu jab this winter in case there is a resurgence in swine flu.

Mothers-to-be have been added to the list of vulnerable groups who are recommended to get vaccinated, just like over-65s and younger people with chronic conditions such as asthma and diabetes. This year’s injection will protect against three strains of flu, including the H1N1 virus.

Professor David Salisbury, the Department of Health’s director of immunisation, admitted that some expectant mothers would be reluctant. But he warned that women who caught the H1N1 virus were at much greater health risk of medical complications.

People who refused a seasonal flu jab because it contained the swine flu vaccine “are quite frankly foolhardy”, said Salisbury. “To be ignoring the vaccine because of a prejudice about swine flu is putting yourself at unnecessary risk. It’s important to get that said, even if it’s uncomfortable. That attitude of ‘I won’t have a seasonal flu jab because it’s got swine flu in it’ is ignoring the reality of the risks.”

Armed with a judge’s ruling, British activist George Galloway blasted Ottawa on Wednesday for his aborted Canadian visit 18 months ago as he announced plans to speak in Toronto this weekend.

Speaking from London via Skype, the rabble-rousing politician attacked Immigration Minister Jason Kenney for branding him a terrorist and trying to stifle his anti-war views.

“I’m coming to get you with my arguments, Mr. Kenney,” Mr. Galloway said. “I’m going to establish either that you’re a fool or that you’re a knave – in any case, that the people of Canada deserve better than you.”

The Immigration Minister could not immediately be reached for comment.

Mr. Galloway was scheduled to speak in Canada in March of 2009, but decided against coming after Ottawa said he would likely be denied entry.

The government cited his dealing with Gaza’s elected Hamas government, which Canada considers a terrorist organization.

On Monday, a Federal Court judge found the Conservative government had acted politically to suppress his opinions.

“It is clear that the efforts to keep Mr. Galloway out of the country had more to do with antipathy to his political views than with any real concern that he had engaged in terrorism or was a member of a terrorist organization,” Mr. Judge Richard Mosley stated in his ruling.

Documents show Mr. Kenney’s office was clear in its opposition to the 2009 visit, with his spokesman writing that the minister would not overturn the ban given “the kind of things George Galloway advocates.”

At the time, Mr. Kenney did say publicly: “I believe folks that are supporting and promoting and helping terrorist organizations are not needed to visit Canada.”

Mr. Galloway said the terrorist allegations had proven extremely damaging.

Not only did they cost him his long-held seat in the British House of Commons in May, he said, they also put him in personal danger, hampered his ability to travel and placed him and his family under anxiety and stress.

Although he abandoned a libel suit against Mr. Kenney on the grounds that it was proving too expensive to fight, he indicated Wednesday that he may yet seek legal redress from the Canadian government.

Using words reminiscent of the McCarthy-era communist witch-hunts in the United States half a century ago, Mr. Galloway stated an “incontrovertible” truth: “I am not now, nor have I ever been, a terrorist or a security threat to Canada or anywhere else.”

Toronto lawyer Barb Jackman said the court ruling showed the minority government under Stephen Harper was using Canadian laws to advance its own political agenda and civil servants had stepped into the political arena in support of the government.

Fellow lawyer Hadayt Nazami called the government’s behaviour “dangerous” and anti-democratic.

Supporters of the anti-war activist said they were looking forward to hearing him speak on the weekend.

Mr. Galloway, who had planned to talk in Canada last year about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, instead spoke via a video link from New York City.

The government’s actions, he said, had only served now to give him a bigger platform, and he promised to “pack them in” Sunday when he speaks in Toronto.

Immigration officials could still deny him entry on his arrival, but Mr. Galloway said he hoped Judge Mosley’s “judicial caning” of Mr. Kenney and his colleagues would prompt them to accept defeat.

North Hollywood, CA, September 10, 2010 — On September 7, 2010, Shelly Dubois wrote an article for Fortune – on CNNMoney.com, titled: What’s Wrong with Gardasil. SANE Vax.org believes that the article discredits the thousands of families, who have suffered deaths and adverse injuries to their daughters in the name of financial numbers and award-winning marketing strategies.

The article opens with: “There’s a liquid drug that women can get injected into a layer of muscle — three separate times over a six-month period — that can protect them from a kind of cancer. From a scientific perspective, that’s amazing. In terms of public health, it’s a breakthrough.

“But four years after Merck (MRK, Fortune 500) released this would-be top-seller, called Gardasil, it has proven to be a marketplace dud. In Merck’s second quarter, the company reported an 18% year-over-year drop in sales to $219 million and its stock is down nearly 3% to date. Analysts are pointing to Gardasil not as a savior, but as a risk for investors.”

Dubois comments on the reasons why this vaccine has now become a “marketplace dud” stating that Gardasil ran into two major roadblocks: consumer inertia and politics.

1) People are spending less on medicine in general.

2) Some parents aren’t comfortable vaccinating young children against a virus they can only get from having sex.

3) Merck didn’t properly prepare the right doctors.

4) Merck couldn’t counter the bad press.

Although Ms. Dubois does allude to one death from Gardasil she quickly covers her tracks by writing “no one linked Gardasil to the cause of death, but the drug was launched into the fierce debate over vaccine safety.”

It is appalling that the numbers of adverse reactions and deaths to Gardasil were not mentioned in this critique. That is what really went wrong with this vaccine.

In March of this year the number of reactions reported stood at 16,000. That means 3,000 more reports were made over the last 6 months – or approx. 125 reports a week. That is what went wrong with Gardasil.

SANE Vax would like to answer the question that Ms. Dubois raises about why girls aren’t completing the vaccines series. “The Centers for Disease Control reported in late August that while 44% of teenagers received the HPV vaccine in 2009, only 27% of them received all three doses of the shot. Unfortunately, there isn’t evidence to support that getting only one shot effectively protects against cancer. So why aren’t women finishing the series?”

According to the 2008 FDA Closing Statement on Gardasil, it was noted that 73.3% of girls receiving the vaccine would develop “new medical conditions.”  Just doing the quick math with only 27% completing the series and 73% getting some kind of “mystery illness’ undiagnosed by doctors – SANE Vax believes that the question answers itself.

What went wrong with Gardasil is not about the financial numbers, marketing strategies, consumer inertia, or politics – it is about destroying the lives of those it was supposed to save.

BERLIN — A German firm that installs and manages gold vending machines aims to introduce them into the United States this year as it expands rapidly to take advantage of demand for bullion in times of economic uncertainty.

Thomas Geissler, creator of the Gold to Go brand and chief executive of Ex Oriente Lux, told Reuters on the sidelines of the London Bullion Market Association conference that the company aims to issue a “couple of hundred” machines next year.

Gold to Go launched its first ATM in Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace hotel in May. They are now operating in luxury hotels in Abu Dhabi, Bergamo and Madrid as well as around Germany.

“This year we will issue around 35 machines, and for next year we are looking for bigger numbers,” Geissler said on Monday, standing in front of one of the ATMS, which was colored and shaped like a giant gold ingot close to 2 meters tall.

The other day I was looking at recent photos from from a younger relative’s album, and I noticed something as I turned page after page of the smiling faces of their friends. Something jumped out at me immediately as being painfully and obviously wrong. In every picture, every one of these smiling teenagers had brown and yellow teeth. Not one good white set amongst them and yet these are all middle class families with good dental hygiene. All of those handsome young adults’ smiles were destroyed by discoloured enamel. I was shocked and decided to investigate because this was not how I remember teeth when I was growing up, nor is it what I see from people I meet from other countries.

What I was seeing was the results of a lifetime of drinking fluoridated water, from the bottle to the pint. The staining, flaking and pitting of the teeth enamel caused by the interference in the laying down of the enamel layers during the formation of the teeth by the compound commonly known as Fluoride, that is added to our water supply.

Now it is an age old adage that the teeth are a window into the health of the body, Slave traders would always check the teeth of a potential purchase. So is this an indication of more serious problems in the body?

This substance is in fact a byproduct of the aluminium and fertilizer businesses and is classified as toxic waste so dangerous that it cannot be dumped. It is also used as an insecticide, in rat poison and as an ingredient in military nerve gas. A lethal dose of fluoride can in fact kill a human being in just two hours.

Ordinary people, resisting two decades of concerted brainwashing, are starting to notice.

Babies who stay in the womb for too long face potentially serious health problems, including death.

LONDON — Intelligence officials have intercepted a credible terror plot against Britain and France, raising security fears at the Eiffel Tower on Tuesday, but failing to raise the overall threat level in either country.

The Eiffel Tower was briefly evacuated Tuesday evening after officials received a bomb threat called in from a telephone booth. It was the second such alert at the monument in two weeks.

The warning came as French officials were put on alert for possible terror attacks. British officials, too, have been aware of a possible attack but the terror threat warning has not changed from “severe.”

“There have been a succession of terror operations we’ve been dealing with over recent weeks but one to two that have preoccupied us,” said one British government official who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of his work. “Still, it hasn’t been to the degree that we have raised the threat level.”

Another British official, who spoke on the same terms, would not confirm the plot was “al-Qaida inspired” but said there was an “Islamist connection” and that the plots were in an early stage. No other details were given.

Since the Sept. 11 terror attacks in the United States nine years ago, the terror group has moved outside of Afghanistan and Pakistan to other countries such as Somalia and Yemen.

“I’m thinking one time I’m going to make a run back to the beach and I’m going to see it,” Silvers said. “But I just haven’t.”

REYKJAVIK, Iceland — Iceland’s former Prime Minister Geir Haarde has been referred to a special court in a move that could make him the first world leader to be charged in connection with the global financial crisis.

After a heated debate Tuesday, lawmakers voted 33-30 to refer charges to the court against Haarde for allegedly failing to prevent Iceland’s 2008 financial crash – a crisis that sparked protests, toppled the government and brought the economy to a standstill by collapsing its currency.

Haarde faces up to two years in jail if found guilty. The court, which could dismiss the charges, has never before convened in Iceland’s history. A hearing date has not yet been set.

Haarde, ex-leader of the Independence Party, is no longer in parliament and stepped down from office last year following widespread protests and treatment for esophageal cancer.

The CIA has significantly stepped up its bombing in Pakistan in recent weeks, carrying out at least 20 non-UN-sanctioned attacks in September.

US officials said on Wednesday that the 20 drone attacks were the highest monthly figure so far.

Reports say that the drone strikes reflect Washington’s frustration with Islamabad’s failure to wipe out militants in the country’s tribal areas.

On Tuesday, two separate non-UN-sanctioned cross-border attacks by US troops in Pakistan killed at least nine people and injured several others. All the causalities were civilians.

The drone attacks, which were initiated by former US president George W. Bush and have continued under President Barack Obama, have drastically increased in recent weeks at a time when devastating floods have taken their toll on the South Asian country.

Tuesday’s developments come one day after two helicopters operated by the US forces in Afghanistan crossed into Pakistan’s volatile tribal areas, killing at least 50 people.

In a similar incident, US forces killed more than 30 people on Friday.

Islamabad has reacted angrily to the air strikes, calling them a violation of its sovereignty.

Jeremy Morlock is accused of killing Afghan civilians for fun and collecting their body parts as trophies.

It is alleged that the Spc. Sgt. Jeremy N. Morlock, 22, along with 3 other US soldiers led by Staff Sgt. Calvin R Gibbs, killed Afghan civilians as a sport and collected body parts as trophies in yet another one of the most shocking stories told on assaults committed by US military personnel.

The allegations detail some of the cruelest acts carried out by US troops since their invasion of Afghanistan began in 2001.

Investigators at a pretrial hearing in a military courtroom in Washington heard Morlock, a member of the 5th Stryker Combat Brigade, admitting his involvement in the killings that took place in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province between January and May, The Washington Post reported.

Morlock sought to shift the blame for the killings to his senior in command, Gibbs, claiming that it was his idea and that he had planted the thought of killing innocent Afghans as a “sport.”

Morlock is also quoted as saying in a press-release statement that “Gibbs had pure hatred for all Afghanis and constantly referred to them as savages.”

The defense attorney for the American soldier has tried to acquit his client, arguing that the heavy medication he was taking for a brain injury in May 2010 prompted him to offer the confessions at his pretrial hearing. Morlock’s statements, meanwhile, are considered as key evidence that could prove vital in legal cases against his fellow co-defendants.

However, the notion that Morlock was influenced by medications while making his statements was rebutted by Anderson D Wagner, a special agent with the US Army’s Criminal Investigation Command. He emphasized that Morlock’s statements were verified up by other members of his unit and that he did not believe Morlock was unduly influenced by medications.

Morlock and the other US soldiers charged in the killings are facing potential death sentences for war crimes if convicted. The ongoing hearing and the subsequent ones scheduled for Morlock’s accomplices will determine whether the cases will proceed to a court martial.

In a related development, Australia’s chief military prosecutor has said that 3 Australian soldiers will face charges, including manslaughter, over a raid they carried out in Afghanistan in which five Afghan children were killed.

Juice laced with uranium is just one of many clinical trials allegedly conducted at Israel’s Negev nuclear plant, claims investigative journalist Yossi Melman.
Melman has accused the plant’s management of forcing its workers to take part in life-threatening experiments for the sake of nuclear developments.
They also claim the government and the military are involved in a cover-up of the tests.
It’s taken a decade for them to speak out, but workers at Israel’s nuclear reactor facility claim their managers gave them uranium to drink — as part of an experiment. With no medical supervision or explanation of the risks, the workers now want compensation.
“They told me that the managers of the laboratory approached a few workers within the laboratory and asked them if they are ready to volunteer for a research that they are doing and when the said ‘yes’ they were asked to drink juices — grapefruit and orange juice with uranium,” Investigative Journalist Yossi Melman says.
Professor Tzvi Bentwich is a doctor and human rights campaigner who says Israel still lacks the laws to protect its people against clinical trials like this. He believes the claims are plausible.
“My guess it that the idea was to see what is the amount of uranium that is present in drinking water that is ingestible that would show by the regular detection methods bearing in mind that in this set up of the nuclear plant maybe workers or people that are there would be exposed food, water that may be contaminated and therefore the idea would be how much would they be exposed till they get to be detected,” says Professor Tzvi Bentwich of Ben-Gurion University.
The government’s response is confusing — insisting it never happened, while suggesting an investigation.
Israeli authorities deny the claims. In a statement emailed to RT’s offices they explicitly say there have not been human experiments at the Negev Nuclear Center. What’s more they write that the CEO of Israel’s Atomic Energy Commission has decided to put together an expert team. They won’t give any statements until the investigation is complete.
These aren’t the first such allegations in Israel. Dorit Tahan was a teenage army officer, drafted with 700 other soldiers to find an anthrax vaccine. They were told the tests were safe, but ten years on, many still suffer skin and breathing problems, headaches and stomach pains.
“We were soldiers, young soldiers — highly motivated — we believed with all our heart in the army, in the state, so we had no reason not to participate in that,” Tahan says.
Similar claims have emerged from naval troops, saying they were ordered to dive into water polluted by toxic waste. Many developed cancer. It took years for the incidents to come to light.
From the military: a flat denial.
So at the nuclear reactor, it’s no surprise to people like Gideon Spiro that there’s great pressure on workers in sensitive jobs to keep quiet.
He led the campaign to free Mordecai Vanunu, the whistleblower jailed for 18 years for revealing Israel’s atomic weapons work.
“One of our demands is to open Dimona (location of Negev nuclear plant) for international inspection to know what is exactly happening not only with the manufacturing of weapons but how they are dealing with the nuclear waste for instance,” Human rights activist, Gideon Spiro says.
Israelis have always seen the reactor as their protector from enemy attack. But allegations of medical tests on people — and an ever-growing official wall of silence — could force some to consider whether it’s becoming a public enemy.

By the end of the sixties, it hastened the sexual revolution to its next stage, homosexuality.

Now, more than 40 years later, even homosexuality has lost its attraction to many children and grandchildren of the hippie generation. Pedophilia (sex with little boys and girls along with child pornography) is the latest underground obsession sweeping America and the world.

Last fall, I alerted the nation to the power of the pedophile lobby in Congress; Sen. Giving babies nothing but breastmilk for the first six months reduces the number and severity of infections they suffer, research has confirmed.

Research on 1,000 babies found those exclusively breastfed for six months had significantly fewer common infections than their peers who were either partially breastfed or not breastfed at all.

They had fewer respiratory infections, ear infections, and thrush, even after adjusting for other factors that could influence infection rates.

Partial breastfeeding did not exert the same protective effects, the study, published in the Archives of Disease in Childhood found.

Women in Britain are recommended to breastfeed exclusively for six months to give their baby the best start in life but only a minority do.

Naval personnel board boat carrying 10 Jewish activists who were trying to break sea blockade

The Israeli navy today boarded a yacht carrying 10 Jewish activists who were attempting to break the sea blockade around Gaza, forcibly diverting the vessel to the nearby port of Ashdod.

“There was no resistance, no violence,” an Israeli military spokeswoman said. “Before we boarded, we twice asked the captain not to cross the international line into Gaza waters but he refused.”

Contact with the passengers and crew via satellite phone was cut off.

The boat, the Irene, sailing under a British flag, was carrying 10 Jewish passengers and crew from Israel, Britain, the US and Germany.

It was also carrying cargo, including medical supplies, fishing equipment, textbooks and children’s toys, which the Israeli authorities said they would transfer to Gaza by land from Ashdod.

Shortly before the takeover, Miri Weingarten, media adviser to the Irene, spoke to the British captain, Glynn Secker. He reported that the boat was flanked by a small military boat bearing machine guns and a naval frigate, with which he was in contact.

The crew and passengers were warned that they were close to restricted waters and would not be allowed to proceed. They were told the Israeli passengers would be held legally liable

Israel showed the international community on Tuesday that the country is ruled by a circus, not a responsible government with a policy. Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman told the representatives of the world’s nations from the UN podium that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is spreading illusions and silly talk about peace. There is no chance for a permanent settlement for a generation, Lieberman said, and it is necessary to “exchange” populated areas and adjust the state to its correct size. Or, in less diplomatic English, the Arab citizens of Israel must be expelled to the Palestinian side of the border.
