Occupy protesters, camped on the Capitol Hill, have vowed to “re-occupy” a park a few blocks from the White House, should they face eviction.
On Thursday, Washington Mayor Vincent Gray required that the National Park Service remove the protesters from the Washington Square Park, located in McPherson Square, saying that the condition at the square was a threat to the health and safety of both the protesters and District residents.
The square has been used as an encampment by ‘Occupy Washington’ and ‘Occupy DC’ protestors.
Gray claimed he wanted the protesters to evacuate the park so rats and trash could be removed and the park be restored.
